How to Enable Captions on Zoom

These 5 simple steps could impact someone's life today!

Due to technology improvements and increased federal regulations, closed captioning has become a fantastic invention that not only assists people who are deaf or hard of hearing, but also millions of other computer users daily. Closed captioning allows people to fully experience virtual meetings, events, and videos.

While many of us know the benefits of closed captions, many Zoom users still have not enabled closed captions. While this used to only be offer to 'paid' Zoom accounts, the company announced earlier this year that closed captions would be available to all Zoom users, regardless of plan type.

To enable captions in Zoom meetings, the account admin simply needs to:

1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal

2. Locate “account management” in the navigation menu

3. Choose “account settings”

4. Click the “meeting” tab

5. Under “in meeting (advanced)” - toggle the closed captioning option to enable it

If you have any trouble activating your closed captions, feel free to reach out to our team at hello[at]wearecapable[dot]org.
